Protests in Brisbane.

August 7, 2009

Is it my luck?

I have seen 3 protests in Brisbane already. The recent one is by teachers outside QUT. Their boards read QTU, which I later found out was Queensland Teachers Union.

=\

This week is pretty boring too, pretty much about constantly feeling hungry. Yes. I have been craving for food ALL THE TIME!!

Anyway, the picture shall do the talking again.

After the previous entry about breads, I add another dish into my menu – Salad.

(more) Bread + Salad.

I realised that wholemeal bread tastes better than multigrain bread.

The protest while walking to school. I could even hear them from my room, which is 19 levels up.

I didn’t dare to take more photos because I was afraid that they will punch me. =X

I was craving for sushi yesterday, so I crazily went down to the city to buy this. Teriyaki Chicken Sushi. Westernised but yummy!

Today’s lunch was Corn Porridge!! OMG I cannot tell you how much I love this rice cooker. My room has no stove, therefore I can’t cook… I was later told that the steam would not trigger the fire alarm (provided that I’ve also switched on the fan) so I went on to try and true enough! Haha!! So for people who are wondering if they should bring their rice cooker, BRING IT!! It is definitely worth the extra space and weight in your luggage!

Cooking…

Corn and Porridge….

In the bowl~ Haha.. finally a decent and healthy meal. SAY NO TO CUP NOODLES!!! MUAHAHA!!

I’m wondering what to cook tonight. Hmmm…

Probably next entry I will write more about the university.

Bread…

August 4, 2009

Before I plunge into a possible hiatus, shall show you my breakfast, lunch and dinner for yesterday and the day before:

Bread + Tuna + Lettuce + Tomatoes + Cucumbers + Cheese + Ham

Yes. BREAD.

And I’m so sick of bread already. I’m eating so much bread because my bread was expiring already =\
(It tastes better than it looks in the picture)

And humor me please.

Trip to the Steve Irwin Zoo!

August 1, 2009

Yes, I’ve been to the Australia Zoo… last Saturday that is. Haha. Sorry for the delay in updating again coz I’ve got to catch up with school. Well good news is there’s heaps and heaps of pictures in this post, about a 100+.

Hmm, I’m in quite a good mood today because I went for a walk in the Botanic Garden in the morning and I bumped into a wedding! I supposed it’s a good thing! =D

I didn’t take picture though. Haha.

Anyway this week is a relatively boring week… Basically it’s just school school and more school. And uh cooking at home. Haha!

Picture taken in a bus, coz I haven’t taken any picture of the bus yet. I haven’t been on the bus since then. Was heading to KS/Jo’s place to play basketball which we didn’t coz we’re lazy. Haa!

Cars here are really cheap.

The Chinese paper here is LOL… They sell sex openly!

This was our lunch – Maggi Mee Goreng (success!)

I slacked at Jo’s for the next few hours talking about rubbish things… rotting and stuff. Haha. I went home at about 9pm with a bag of vegetables… I was walking home from the bus station when this Caucasian male who was walking backwards almost bumped into me. He turned and almost said sorry (He said, “Sor…”), but when he saw that I was Asian, he shouted at me (while I was walking very fast towards the traffic light), “HEY LOOK AT WHERE YOU’RE GOING blablablabla…” That was possibly the only racist (?) treatment I’ve had so far in Brisbane.

The next day was Zoo! I woke up at 6.30am that day because as usual I couldn’t sleep well. Esther and I was supposed to meet KS and people at 9am at Pancake Manor for breakfast. Not a fan of pancake here, I couldn’t finish that pancake. Too sweet!

After breakfast was 1 hour journey to Australia Zoo!

And then we finally reached!! Steve Irwin!

Australia Zoo – Home of the Crocodile Hunter

Visitor Map.

This is a real tortoise. And it’s freaking big!

It was eating and shitting at the same time.

Erm. Random.

Crocodile…

This one is a fake… but it really exists. We (9 people) took a picture on this crocodile… but I don’t know whose camara has that photo. So no photo =(

This thing is a 王八… or better known as Wombat. Hehe!

I sent this photo to my mom and she said it looks like a pig.

It was hiding.

Sleeping Wombat.

Snakes that creeped me out. I’m gonna skip talking about them.

Wombats…?

Birds.

OMG the kangaroo is DAMN CUTE!! The fur is damn soft also!!

Me feeding the Kangaroo. Actually I DO have a little memory of feeding kangaroos the last time I went Kangaroo Island when I was 12. This is fun!

Do not feed like the way I did. I read the notice later and realised that this was the wrong method of feeding. Haha! Luckily Kangaroo Jack didn’t box me. Phew!

Jo and Me.

Jo and Me plus a kid which the kangaroo hopped to afterwards coz the kid had tidbits =_=

Kangaroo standing up straight.

Random picture again.

They were queuing up to TOUCH the koala bear. Which I uh… have no comments. I didn’t queue up. This boy and his monkey bag is damn cute la!

The koala bear.

The koala bear was already sleeping… a break from sleeping?

Spot the koala.

Next was South East Asia animals. Hmm…

The elephant is somewhere in the picture.

This way down to see tigers… which I didn’t take picture of. ORZ!

Emu! Haha cute!

…?

We were walking to the crocodile show… and MORE KANGAROOS!!! This kangaroo had a baby in it’s pouch.

Closer look.

See the legs?

This place is infested with kangaroos!

…?

The Crocodile Hunter!

This snake… is thicker than my arm. Can you imagine?

This cow is 1 and a half weeks old.

Sheeps.

Pigs.

The cow again. I touched it… felt like human hair… 囧rz…

Artifacts.

Esther.

CROCODILE SHOW!!!

Steve Irwin talking.

Okay… the second guy from the left was holding a snake. Can’t really see.

After that was birds… and erm… more birds…

And finally the crocodile! This crocodile is 40 years old and they had a hard time trying to lure the crocodile out. It’s damn slow and lazy.

Trying to make it jump.

Jumped after many tries.

More jumps!

Trying to lure it to the platform.

The emcee gave up trying to lure.

And then suddenly it came out.

*BITE*

And then the show ended. Gah.

We went to see more crocodiles.

And camels. It was having a period… pissed blood. Bleh… smelly…

Tasmanian Devils.

It was too fast. Running everywhere.

12 year old Beaver! Hahaha very cute!

End of visit.

We went Red Cliffe for dinner. NOT RED CLIFF. We stopped by the sea coz we didn’t know the location. It was pretty… How nice to stay here…

The people I went zoo with. They were doing jump shots.

Dinner here.

Morgans Seafood Restaurant. Whoever that suggested eating western is a fucker. Whoops vulgarity!

Esther’s Pasta.

Jo’s Fish and Chips.

My Seafood Mixed Grill which FYI is expensive and not filling at all. Costs me freaking AUD$31. It is fresh, very tasty, but it definitely shouldn’t cost that much. That’s why I say whoever that suggested western is a fucker (WHOOPS AGAIN). At least if it’s Teppanyaki it’d be more filling.

Anyway 3 other guys ordered the same dish as me. I can understand how they feel. Haha. They went to eat KFC after sending me back to UniLodge. It was still okay for me coz Esther couldn’t finish her pasta and I finished it for her.

Heh. This picture was taken during my Project Management tutorial. We played Lego during the tutorial. Lol…

I woke up at 9am today… tried to sleep… but woke up again at 10am, so I went to the Botanic Garden for a walk, which is conveniently 2 streets away.

This way to Botanic Garden and QUT.

Entrance.

Inside.

The pond is very pretty!

…?

Opposite was Kangaroo Point.

The trail ended at QUT’s entrance at the Goodwill Bridge. I walked through QUT and bumped into a wedding! Many kids were running around… Haha!

Went back to the lodge and rotted for another 1 hour. Asked HuiYu out for a walk.

HuiYu is Ah Qi’s BITC mate which I got to know of when she came back from Beijing. I saw her once in UniLodge but couldn’t confirm if it was her, the second time I saw her was when I was coming out of the lift and she was waiting for the lift. Haha! Apparantly she had been in UniLodge for 1 and a half years and she’d recently just came back from Singapore. Such a small world huh!

Anyway I asked HuiYu out for a walk… so we went down to South Bank’s Lifestyle Market, the same one I went 2 weeks ago.

After walking around the market, we head back to the city for lunch. Saw this performer on the way back.

She can try harder though. Not that well done.

Had japanese curry for lunch, couldn’t finish. And then bubble tea… and salad for dinner.

Speaking of food, I was in the city with Jo yesterday and we went to this Malaysian Restaurant at Charlotte Street. The char kway teow is very nice! It tastes just like home!!! Jo had a taste of laksa… haha and I think she’s not very flattered by this delicacy.

AND TO END THIS POST, I HAVE TO SAY THAT I REALLY HATE TO SEE BUTT CRACKS, LET ALONE A MALE BUTT CRACK. PLEASE DON’T LET ME SEE IT. I’VE SEEN LIKE 3 MALE BUTT CRACKS IN A WEEK? OMFG STOP IT!!!

*wash eye*

From Level 23…

July 23, 2009

This is a picture I took from UniLodge level 23 using my iPhone…

Today was lecture and practical for INB271 The Web. I went to the wrong lecture hall!! Lesson was at 9am… Luckily I reached like 30 minutes earlier today. When I was in the wrong lecture hall, I thought it feels weird coz there’s very little people in the lecture. So I double checked via my iPhone (THANK GOD FOR IPHONE!), and realised that they had changed the lecture hall but did not put it up on Announcement.

=_=”

It was 9am when I realised that I was in the wrong lecture so I rushed down to Block S (was at Block Z)… good thing they only just started the lecture.

My tutor for practical is a Singaporean!! The moment I hear him speak, I was MSN-ing Xiao Qi and Miss Cher that I suspect that he is a Singaporean.

Hmm, when he stepped into the room, I didn’t think that he is our tutor because he was wearing this Superman Tee Shirt. It was until he spoke out and say that the room is for INB271. My eyes nearly popped as I thought lecturers should at least wear a proper suit to their classes.

Anyway that aside, he wrote on the board his name:

ANDY LAU

!!!!!!

Andy Lau, Singaporean, Lecturer, Superman Tee Shirt!!!!

Hahahah almost burst out laughing.

Till that moment, I was still only suspecting that he’s a Singaporean. He came to talk to us during the practical (was caught MSN-ing =_=), and then he asked us where we’re from and what polytechnic we were from. Then he said he was from Singapore Polytechnic. Haha… Yea, which started our conversation. Feels weird to be in a foreign country with a Singaporean tutor.

Anyway I think my co-lecturer (a.k.a. Ernest Foo) is from Singapore too. He speaks like one…

Oh yea, the teaching… First time in the practical feels different. It isn’t like NYP where they literally feed you throughout the whole practical/tutorial. Here, you have to do it all by yourself. I got abit lost and was waiting for Andy to tell us what to do for the practical. I feel like a Singaporean =( Eh yea but today’s practical was easy. So yep yep… I like this module (so far).

Hee!

(I’m damn suay today because the printer at UniLodge broke down =_=)

Kiap kiap!

July 22, 2009

Before I procrastinate again, I’ll post more pictures that I took today.

Took this picture coz I saw this girl whom Esther and I felt that is making use of her “intellectual” friends.

K… can’t really see from the picture…

Saw this army man… His hat is cool.

Donut King.

Esther went to play the kiap kiap machine yesterday and today. She won a Donald Duck and a Mickey yesterday at Timezone and she gave me the Mickey… Today she played again at Myers and she won a Tigger, a Doggie, a Rabbit, a Doraemon. She gave me the Tigger and Rabbit. Love that rabbit!!

We went to have dinner at this Korean Restaurant in Elizabeth Arcade today. It’s at level 1, I didn’t catch the name… but I had it once with Wen Minn, I ordered Kimchi soup with pork but I didn’t really like it coz it was too sour for me. I thought the same dish at this korean restaurant called WA was better. Anyway I had Be Bim Bup this time… still not too bad. I think I’ll take picture of them when I remember next time.

Gee~

Long awaited post…

July 21, 2009

I have been procrastinating long enough… Haha! Because there’s too many days of things to update, therefore I’ll just do it in a summary and post the pictures that I’ve taken.

The more “significant” one is my staying over at Jo’s last last Sunday because it was too late to go home… It was damn freaking cold, but I think Jo feels even colder because she was sleeping on the floor. She let me sleep on her bed because I was having a cold… I feel so bad about it =(

Anyway the following day (which is last Monday), I woke up at 7.30am and left her place at 8am because I had to attend orientation. I felt shagged to the max because I slept at about 4am the previous night.

I’ve also bought my iPhone, as written in my previous entry. And um, the hours I spent in Sunnybanks last week is more than the hours I spend in UniLodge, which is why there was the period of time I called UniLodge the UniHotel… coz basically I go back there to sleep.

I’ve also cooked dinner twice in Sunnybanks (and played basketball), few times in UniLodge with Esther… Went to the Three Monkeys twice (but no photos). I’ve also watched Ice Age 3 and Harry Potter HBP during this period…

HBP WAS NEVER MY FAVOURITE, so I didn’t had too much hope for this movie. It was funny in the beginning but it got quite boring towards the end. I thought Dumbledore’s funeral should be more grand… I pictured it as a significant event when I was reading the book… Hmm…

So yep, basically it sums up how I’ve spent my days.

Eh… and school have started yesterday, it was pretty interesting. Yesterday’s lecture was on Enterprise Systems. It’s really interesting to see how students interact with the lecturer during that lecture, as compared to my days in NYP which we’re all dead and no one answers the lecturer when the lecturer asks a question.

Today’s lecture (Business of IT) wasn’t that fun though. I heard from Esther that the lecturer is a racist. =(

I’ve just consolidated my pictures… not alot, only about 60 pictures… I’ve pretty much changed to using my iPhone to take pictures because the quality is not as bad as my camara and it’s really quite troublesome to carry my camara around… LOL.

Me and Jo went on a trip to South Bank to explore and walk around… We took many pictures, but I haven’t taken any from her yet.

Saw this market thingy.

Wanted to buy this for Ah Qi… but I guess it’s abit too early to buy souvenirs for her? Haha! I didn’t buy it.

The sky was very clear and blue that day.

Some of the things you don’t get to see in Singapore.

Walking towards Goodwill Bridge, which is the other direction of this photo.

Camwhoring. I had make up on that day, but I look fat so MOSAIC!!!

First time stepping on the Goodwill Bridge.

Was supposed to stay there (a.k.a. River Plaza)… Long story…

One more try…

Reached QUT!! This tree is huge!

On the way back to UniLodge (walked one big round =_=)

Almost reaching UniLodge when we saw this thing. Cool!

Jo, Esther, KS and I went to Mt Coot-tha that night. The view was really nice, but my camara was damn weak so I couldn’t capture it.

KS sent me this photo afterwards. He used his DSLR to take this photo. SEE THE DIFFERENCE!!!

Esther. Me. Jo.

Taken at Three Monkeys. Was feeling sick.

This was taken using my iPhone… there was a protest going on in the City.

Police!! =D

Esther and I cooked dinner. Spaghetti that night… tasted yummy.

Ok… this is random stuff… but the guy behind that computer is cute. His name is Ryan and he was leading the orientation group. As you can see, I was stalking him =_=… but I’ve only got this photo.

Singers… Great voice.

Taken in school…

One of the buildings in QUT.

Went to Wen Minn’s friend’s house and took this picture. Their house had a very very nice view of the river…

Me again… To show that I’m alive and kicking!

AND OMG THE LAST PHOTO IS MY LATEST BUY!!!! I’VE FINALLY GOT MY CHRISTINA AGUILERA!!! YAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

Out.

I’m not dead…

July 16, 2009

Really. I’m not dead.
I’m just… too busy with things XD

I’ve just watched Harry Potter the Half Blood Prince yesterday. The scene of Albus Dumbledore dying was horrible. =( Unbearable to watch…

Yea… but I’m not going to update further today… coz I’m going out again (as usual)… haha.

I’ll be free tomorrow to update I hope.

And I’m going to buy donuts now!

TATA!

h1

UniLodge? UniHotel?

July 13, 2009

Recently, UniLodge have became pretty much like a hotel than a home to me. Been heading out early and coming home late, or not coming home at all like last night…

Not healthy… Uh uh. I should be rotting at home. It’s more like me.

No pictures this entry coz I’m too tired to transfer my photos…

Just an update, I’ve got my iPhone… yay… but the battery life sucks so… hahaha~

I’m so gonna nap now. Tata.

Lynn starts to cook!

July 8, 2009

For the past few days, I have been coming back and forth the supermarket very frequently. Reason being, I need to buy all the spices and ingredients before I can start to cook.

And so I did. I started to cook today!

This morning I went out to buy tomatoes, pepper, containers (for my marinated chicken), knife, turner, and cooking wine. Actually I wanted to buy chinese wine (花雕酒), I’ve been so used to chinese wine I don’t know what type of wine could possibly substitute it. So anyway, I can’t find chinese wine, so I bought white wine instead.

After coming home, I deboned the chicken drumstick I bought yesterday… And because of the weather I had to wash my hands with warm water every now and then. I thought I almost had frost bite on my hand while deboning it =_=

After deboning it, I marinated the chicken drumsticks with sugar, salt, dark and light soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper and wine… and then fried 2 eggs, and 2 of the drumsticks… for dinner.

Tada!

Before chopping.

After chopping.

Desmond came to UniLodge with his mom and relatives. Went to meet him for the first time, then his uncle invited me for dinner. Hmmm… all I can say is his uncle has quite high standard of taste.

Haha.

And they invited me to go Gold Coast with them tomorrow.

x_x
